The Northeast Ohio Protégé Project will be hosting its first annual Mentoring Symposium on Thursday, November 7 from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert S. Morrison Health and Science Building on the Kent State Ashtabula campus. The symposium will feature six successful, professional women from the Ashtabula area who will speak about their professional experiences, their advice for young professionals, and share their stories.
Guest speakers for the event include: Laura Jones-Hockaday, Executive Director of LEADERship Ashtabula County; Marianne Sezon, Court Administrator and Magistrate for Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas; Tamra Courey, MSN PMHCNS – BC, Associate Professor of Nursing at Kent State Ashtabula; Dawn Cragon, Ashtabula County Treasurer; Jennifer Swickard, Office Manager at Cougar 93.7 FM; and Joan Steidl, Assistant Professor of Human Services Technology at Kent State Ashtabula.
After guest speaker presentations, attendees will engage in breakout sessions that will allow them time to interact with the speakers and ask questions. The event will end with an informal networking reception.
While the evening is geared towards women enrolled at Kent State Ashtabula or area high schools, the event is open to all and free to attend. Providing a mentoring opportunity to area women is part of Northeast Ohio Protégé Projects' mission of furthering the education and advancement of women in the Northeast Ohio region. The project strives to assist women who desire transformation through providing personal, academic, and professional guidance and encouragement through mentoring and support.
Those wishing to attend the event are asked to RSVP online at www.ashtabula.kent.edu/payhere by Tuesday, November 5. There is no charge for the event, but online reservations are appreciated. The event is sponsored by the Kent State Ashtabula English Society, a student organization on campus. For more information, please contact Laurie Bentley at LBentley@kent.edu.
