Kent State Trumbull Library now lending laptop computers
Posted Jan. 24, 2011The Kent State University at Trumbull Library has recently acquired four laptop computers – through the generosity of the Home Savings Foundation – that current students may sign out for a period of up to 48 hours, per lending period.
Each laptop features the full Microsoft Office Suite with a tutorial for each program. Each laptop has a built-in digital video camera and is configured to use wireless networking when available.
To borrow a laptop from the Kent State Library, a borrower must:
· Be a current Trumbull student;
· Not owe any fines;
· Have a Flashcard and driver's license.
Borrowers will receive a brief instruction in the use of the laptops. Failure to return a laptop on time results in a $10 per hour fee. After 10 hours, borrowers will be billed the full replacement cost of the laptop.
Through this service the library hopes to provide a means to complete school assignments for students who are time-bound or place-bound due to other commitments and responsibilities.
