Sara Jane MFA Exhibit"Fluid Experience"
Oct. 31-Nov. 3

Sarah Jane will present "Fluid Experience" Oct. 31 through Nov. 3 at the School of Art Downtown Gallery. A reception will be held on Friday, Nov. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Sarah Jane's thesis work is focused on responses to "Buddhist-derived principles regarding the fluidity and ever-changing aspects of human experience."

Jane creates her work through a process that begins with video footage. She first captures clips of seemingly everyday tasks: from people bustling through a New York City subway station to cats following their daily eating, sleeping and hygiene routines.

Jane then breaks down each video into a series of still frames, which are then layered into a single image with a variety of drawing materials, including colored pencils, ink-based pencils, graphite pencils, markers and pens.

Bridget O'Donnell MFA Exhibit"The Revised and Expanded Version: A Series of Etchings"
Nov. 7 through 10

Bridget O'Donnell will present "The Revised and Expanded Version: A Series of Etchings" Nov. 7 through Nov. 10 at the School of Art Downtown Gallery. A reception will be held on Wed., Nov. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Bridget O'Donnell will share "a series of large-scale intaglio prints that explore notions of beauty using line and language."

The process began with a "life-sized" self-portrait, which was reworked, presenting an evolution of prints over time and showcasing the artist's revision process. "...the prints will culminate in their final states as they fill in more densely with information and are, in effect, simultaneously constructed and deconstructed by the process of their making."

The Downtown Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in downtown Kent, Ohio. You may call Anderson Turner, Director of Galleries for the School of Art at Kent State University, if you would like additional information at 330-672-1369; or, you can e-mail him at haturner@kent.edu.
