Kent State Connects Blog: Did You Know March 26 Was Alert Day?Posted Apr. 1, 2013
Paula DiVencenzo, tax manager for Tax and Treasury Services at Kent State, started volunteering with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12.
On the Kent State Connects blog, she shares facts about diabetes and how she is living with the disease.
“Alert Day is a one-day ‘wake-up call’ asking the American public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes,” DiVencenzo says. “Early diagnosis is critical to successful treatment and delaying or preventing some of its complications such as heart disease, blindness, kidney disease, stroke, amputation and death.”

Also on the blog, Erik Zemljic, lecturer with Kent State’s Department of Economics, writes about maintaining a healthy credit report and how you can achieve that.
“Finding out that you need to pay thousands of dollars more in interest on a new car or home due to a low credit score can be worse for your smile than finding out you need a root canal,” he says.
