Domestic Violence Awareness campaign arrives on campus

Posted Oct. 13, 2010

In recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness month, Kent State University at Trumbull is partnering with Someplace Safe, Inc. – Trumbull County's domestic violence agency – to help increase awareness.

As part of the month-long partnership, Someplace Safe will place various displays throughout the campus dedicated to educating and increasing awareness to students, faculty and staff.

Additionally, Kent State Trumbull faculty and staff will be contributing baked goods for a sale to be held on the campus on Wednesday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the lower commons of the Classroom/Administration Building. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Someplace Safe, Inc. Any unsold goods from the sale will then be donated to a local mission.

In conjunction with the bake sale, Darlene McCue, community education and volunteer coordinator of Someplace Safe will be on hand to speak about domestic violence including the many types, how to recognize and steps one can take to find shelter and support.

Further information regarding Someplace Safe can be found at www.somplacesafe.org.
