2011 International Education Week activities set

The Kent State University at Trumbull Office of Student Activities has announced a roster of special events for students, staff, faculty and the community to help celebrate International Education Week from November 14-17.

Activities will include guest speakers, select films from The Global Film Initiative's "Global Lens 2011" film series and an international food menu.

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

The schedule for the International Education Week activities is:

Tastes of the World:
AVI Foods will be offering special menu items in the Cafeteria located in Classroom/Administration Building. Check out the lineup of delicious international cuisine!

Monday, Nov. 14: Italian with ravioli, breadsticks & marinara
Tuesday, Nov. 15: Mexican with fajitas, chips & salsa
Wednesday, Nov. 16: Greek with gyros & Greek salad
Thursday, Nov. 17: Chinese with wonton soup & egg rolls

Speakers:
Wei Zhang, Kent State Trumbull student, will speak on the subject of Chinese holidays and the traditional foods unique to each celebration. Zhang will speak on Thursday, November 17, from 12:30 p.m.-1 p.m. in the Student Union, located on the first floor of the Classroom/Administration Building.

Library:
Stop in the Kent State Trumbull Library and borrow a foreign film from their collection. Additionally, celebrate international education by diving into the various books covering international art, crafts, religion, and recipes.

International Films:
All films will be screened in the Classroom/Administration Building, Room 202 (right next door to the bookstore!). A trio of films are on the docket for International Education Week including The Light Thief (Kyrgyzstan), A Useful Life (Uruguay) and The White Meadows (Iran).
