Grant writing workshops happen in March & April
Posted Jan. 14, 2013The Kent State University at Trumbull Library and The Trumbull 100 will present a pair of grant writing classes to be staged March 21 and April 11 on the campus of Kent State Trumbull.
The first class, Foundation Fundraising: An Introductory Course, will occur on Thursday, March 21 while First Steps to Proposal Development, will occur on Thursday, April 11.

Foundation Fundraising: An Introductory Course
Thursday March 21, 2013
8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Cost: $30 (lunch included)
Location: Technology Building, Room 117
The foundation approach to funding presents distinct challenges and opportunities for non-profits.
This course will help attendees understand:
- The differences between independent, corporate, and community foundations.
- How to identify grantseeking resources.
- How to effectively engage with funders.
Participants receive:
- One-week subscription to The Foundation Directory Online Professional ($40 value).
- A free copy of Foundation Fundamentals ($34.95 value).
- A workbook and worksheet templates used in the course.
First Steps to Proposal Development
Thursday April 11, 2013
8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Cost: $20 (lunch included)
Location: Technology Building, Room 117
This class covers the key components of developing a proposal for a foundation, and provides details about the each major element included in every proposal. Attendees will also learn what is needed to create a budget for a special project, and will be walked through all the elements of a detailed budget. Includes tips on the proposal application & submission process. Participants will have the opportunity to speak with a grantmaker about the proposal review process.

Information in these workshops will primarily benefit non-profit organizations that qualify under IRS code 501(c)(3) to receive private foundation grants.
