What happens at placement testing?

Students take the placement test after being admitted to Kent State University-Trumbull Campus.  The letter of admission will provide instructions regarding how to schedule the placement testing visit.  Plan on spending approximately 4-5 hours on the Trumbull campus during your Placement testing visit.  Your visit to campus will include testing as well as interpretation of your test scores, discussion of your academic plans, and registration of your classes for your first semester of coursework.  In most circumstances students will also have an opportunity to visit on-on-one with a financial aid counselor to discuss questions regarding the FAFSA, student loans and scholarships.

The Placement Test is called "COMPASS" (Computerized Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System). COMPASS is a computerized placement test developed by ACT, which will be administered to each student during the Placement Testing program. The exams measure mathematics, reading, and writing skills. The results are used to assist both the student and the advisor in selecting appropriate courses which will help to maximize the student's success at Kent State Trumbull.  Students may register for the Placement Testing visit after they are admitted to Kent State University-Trumbull Campus.  For additional information about COMPASS:
