Bachelor of Science - Industrial Technology
Kent State University at Trumbull offers a simple and practical way to pursue both an associate's and a bachelor's degree: the 2+2 program.
The 2+2 program offered through Kent's College of Technology lets you combine a two-year technical associate's degree, plus an additional two years of coursework, to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology or Industrial Technology. The associate's degree must be earned from a Kent regional campus or an accredited community or technical college.
The associate's degree, awarded at Kent State Trumbull for successful completion of at least 61 semester hours of coursework, can be the springboard for a bachelor's degree that will prepare you for more advanced and challenging jobs.
The associate's degree prepares you for employment in your chosen field by allowing you to concentrate the majority of your studies in technical and related coursework. Most of the credits earned in the associate's degree program can be applied toward a bachelor's degree.
Depending on your field of study, you may want to begin work in the 2+2 program with an Associate of Applied Business, Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Technical Study degree.
2+2 PROGRAM IN TECHNOLOGYThe 2+2 option leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology provides a broad-based education in technology for any technical associate's degree graduates who want to advance their careers in technical environments. With the 2+2 option, students can apply all, or nearly all, of the coursework completed in the associate's degree toward the Bachelor of Science in Technology or Industrial Technology degree. Realizing that students - and employers - have a variety of needs in today's fast-paced, high-tech workplace, this program provides a great deal of flexibility in selecting courses to complete the bachelor's degree. Through a combination of advanced courses in the College of Technology as well as in other academic units, students can design a program of study to meet their specific career or job needs. Students can also complement their technology degree by taking general electives to earn a minor.
2+2 PROGRAM IN INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGYThe 2+2 option leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology broadens the background of students with an associate's technical degree and allows them to gain additional technical and managerial depth. This option provides an excellent career path for students who have completed an associate's degree in any of the following technologies: Business Management (Manufacturing Management option), Computer, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Systems/Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. With the 2+2 program, students can apply nearly all of the coursework completed in the associate's degree toward the Bachelor of Science degree; students in this program may choose an Industrial Technology or Management Technology option.
The Industrial Technology degree incorporates business, engineering technology, and manufacturing applications, resulting in graduates who are qualified for a wide variety of jobs. This flexible program includes 15 upper-division technical elective hours, selected in consultation with an advisor, and also provides ample opportunity for cooperative education experiences. For students planning to pursue their education beyond the undergraduate degree, combined undergraduate and master's coursework is available for those who qualify academically.
