Timothy Callagan Exhibition
April 2-26, 2012
Timothy Callaghan is a painter who lives and works in Cleveland. His paintings depict a modern American Mid-west landscape. His work is about space, the physical space of his immediate environment and the flat space that defines twentieth-century painting. Because the practice of painting predominantly concerns itself with the sensation of looking, he approaches the work with this in mind. He locates himself within the traditions of genre painting, such as landscape or still life, seeking to sustain this principle of painting that relies upon optical elements and that reinforce significance and joy.
