Dr. Wanda E. Thomas is the associate provost for Kent State system integration and dean of the Regional College. She joined Kent State on June 1, 2005, and was appointed interim executive dean for Regional Campuses in 2009. Prior to Kent State, she spent 24 years at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At the community college, she served as vice president for community and resource development, vice president of technical education and as campus provost. Prior to her employment at Broward Community College, she worked at the University of Arkansas, Allegheny Community College and Cuyahoga Community College as faculty and administrator.
Through the years, she implemented innovative programs and partnerships bringing statewide and national recognition to the college. These awards include receipt of the Best Business and Industry Partnership Award from the Florida Department of Education and Florida Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and an Award for Excellence from the U.S. Department of Labor in 2004. Her work includes successful fundraising and economic development initiatives, including an outreach program for displaced women. In 1997, an endowed teaching chair was established in her name from funds contributed by the community. As a former resident of Ohio and graduate of Kent State University, she is glad to be back.
